Judy
Thornton. Our certified and licensed counselors are supervised by
Clinical Director Judy Thornton, MSW, who has been practicing with Spokane's Heart
To Heart since 2003. In addition to providing supervision, Judy's

Judy earned her Master
of Social Work degree from Eastern Washington University in 1990 and has been a counselor in Spokane for 15 years. She is
licensed by the State of Washington as a Licensed Independent Clinical
Social Worker (LICSW) and was also admitted to the Academy of Certified
Social Workers (ACSW) the most widely recognized national social work
credential.
Additionally, Judy is a
Diplomate in the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress and a
member of the National Center for Crisis Management.
As a Spokane counselor, Judy enjoys working
with people who want to make positive changes in their lives. Seeing the
difference counseling can make in the growth and development of
individuals, couples, and/or families, continues to reinforce her

As a Spokane counselor, Doug provides a
high level of mental health services to local individuals, couples, families,
children, groups, and organizations. He received his Master of Social
Work degree from Eastern Washington University and is a member of the
National Association of Social Work. He has been practicing with Heart
To Heart Counseling from 2005 to current and has 20 years of experience
in the field of human services.
As an experienced
counselor, Doug has developed much strength in the practice of
individual psychotherapy and counseling individuals, families, and
adolescents that are struggling with school and family. He is
experienced in working with individuals diagnosed with a mental illness
and those who have a disability, such as autism. Doug also works as a
life coach and an organizational consultant. He offers training and
seminars for large and small organizations. Doug's eclectic approach
involves drawing from the disciplines of psychotherapy, existential
therapy, family systems therapy, child development, behaviorism,
postmodern therapy, professional supervision, organizational management
theory, gestalt, narrative therapy, inner child therapies,
marital/couples therapy, co-dependency counseling, and integral
psychotherapy.
One of Doug's favorite
aspects of counseling and professional consulting is being part of the
process of personal and professional growth in each group, couple,
family, and individual he works with.
Sarah
Parker LMFT, MA has been a counselor with Heart to Heart Counseling of Spokane since February 2009. She is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with the State of Washington and has expertise in family and marriage counseling. Sarah's vast experience has included working with adults, children, families and couples in many different areas, such as:

Sarah holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology, graduating top of her class for both degrees. She considers herself fortunate to be working with couples, families and individuals as they move towards growth and healing. She is currently accepting new clients.
David
Stanzak has been a professional Counselor, Coach and Consultant
since 1989. He earned his Master of Social Work degree in 1991 from
Eastern Washington University, qualified as a Clinical Social Worker and
was nationally recognized by the Academy of Clinical Social Workers in
1993, and has been supervising other counselors since 2003. He is a
Board Certified Expert in Traumatic Stress, and a Certified Diplomate
with the American Psychotherapy Association. Specializing in counseling,
psychotherapy, and coaching for individuals, couples, and groups, his
training and experience include Hypnosis, Hypnotherapy, Eye Movement
Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Neuro Linguistic Programming
(NLP), Guided Imagery, Impact Personal Development, Acton Coaching,
Psychodrama, Transactional Analysis, Group, Gestalt, Arica
Protoanalytical System, Family and Inner-child Therapies.
Through sustained
training and self-study, David continues to develop new skills and
abilities to help others. He is sought as a speaker on Professional
Development, Private Practice, Ethics, and Treatment models. David shows
the same dedication with each client to resolve problems and build solid
relationships. He is a problem solver, assertive and intuitive in his
style.
In 1997, David
and his wife Margo established Heart To Heart Counseling in Spokane. For the past
12 years as Clinical Director of Heart To Heart, David has specialized
in relationship and marriage counseling. Through individual and group counseling
hundreds of couple and individual clients have grown, matured, and
developed. He believes strongly in the synergistic empowerment and
enrichment of group process and has facilitated at over two thousand
Group functions. In addition, hundreds of couples have found renewed
happiness and learned to restore their relationships and marriages through counseling, finding common
goals while creating supporting mature interdependent lives. Thousands
of individuals have enhanced themselves, ended internal conflict,
discovered mindfulness, eliminated stress and increased wellbeing.
David now focuses
entirely on Coaching and Consulting and is a member of the International
Coach Federation (ICF) and Worldwide Association of Business Coaches (WABC).

Kipp
Helmer has been a counselor at Spokane's Heart to Heart since 2009. He is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker
(LW 60127704) and has over 16 years of professional counseling experience. He is a member of the National Association of
Social Worker (NASW).

Kipp earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree in psychology from the University of Idaho in 1989 and moved to Spokane in 1996, where he has been a practicing counselor for 13 years. He received a Master’s of Social work degree from Eastern Washington University in 2002. Kipp has experience working with individuals coping with depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, other major mental health issues, childhood abuse issues as well as anger issues. He also enjoys working with couples and offering marriage counseling to Spokane couples who are experiencing relationship distress.
Kipp has training experience in Emotionally Focused Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Attachment Theory to name a few. He looks not only at the individual’s personal issues but also at how she/he is doing in their environment. He is currently accepting new clients.
Jennifer
Marshall is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker Associate (SC 60149741). She was born and raised in the Spokane area. She earned her bachelor's and master's degrees in social work from Eastern Washington University where she graduated in 2004 with an emphasis in trauma studies.

Jennifer has training and experience in providing counseling to individuals afflicted by depression, anxiety, post traumatic stress, abuse, and other life hardships. She uses many forms of therapy to tailor to specific client needs, and has experience and working with adults and children from various backgrounds and cultures. She also is a practicing EMDR clinician in the Spokane area. She is currently accepting new clients.
Michelle Cutlip MSW, a Spokane resident, is a licensed associate independent clinical social worker with the State of Washington (SC60227147). Michelle offers training, group and individual counseling for families or individuals in transition, as well as premarital and marriage counseling. Spokane has been her station for the last 17 years, where she has worked with children and families. Michelle provides parent coaching and support to foster and adoptive families. Her counseling background is in solution focused therapy, brief interventions, motivational interviewing, trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy, Christian counseling, and Trust Based Relational Intervention (TBRI).
